Ophelia Ring
A mesmerizing indicolite in a stunningly artistic setting
The Design
Like the beautiful waters of the Caribbean, the hypnotic teal blue of the indicolite in this ring refreshes your spirit. The siren call of the watery depths of this one of a kind gem will make you want to dive in. The design of the ring frames this gem in the intense sunshine of fancy yellow diamonds that fade in an ombre pave pattern to white diamonds. The exquisitely shaped prongs hold the gem like flower petals while the shank is delicately shaped yet substantial enough for the bold scale of the center stone.
The Inspiration
“This ring was inspired by the painting Ophelia by John Evert Mills. The lush teal green of the indicolite reminded me of the vegetation in the painting, which is very vivid. The prongs are like flower petals. They are outstretched like Ophelia’s arms in the painting, holding the gem like the water holds her up.” – Alexia Connellan
The Gems
The indicolite tourmaline featured in this ring is exceptionally fine, from a special deposit in Brazil that was discovered in the 1980s and no longer produces today. This museum-quality gem was acquired from a private collection. The color is natural and has an American Gem Laboratories certificate confirming that this gem is unheated. The intense color is highlighted by diamonds in a sophisticated ombre pave that shades from fancy yellow to white.
The Craftsmanship
Lovely from every angle, this ring was modeled on a computer and hand-finished in 18k yellow gold with careful attention to every detail. The setting was made twice to perfect every detail of the design and fabrication. This ring is a modern heirloom that worthy of its rare and beautiful museum-quality gem. Size 6.25.
